1 cup wada kolam rice
1 cup mixed vegetables (carrot, bean) – cubed and boiled
2 tablespoon ghee
1 teaspoon whole spices (clove, cinnamon)
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
¼ teaspoon asafoetida
½ teaspoon chilli powder
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon garam masala powder
½ teaspoon salt

Kolam rice recipe – Gujarati Masala Bhaat Step 1:
First wash the Wada Kolam Rice and strain the excess water from it. This is important to get non-sticky basmati rice like texture.

Cook the rice in a water-rice ratio of 2:1. Do not completely cook the rice. Turn off the flame when the rice is cooked yet not completely soft.

Add the ghee in a pan followed by three spices – asafetida, mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add the whole spices as well. Wait for less than a minutes and sauté the boiled vegetables in the same pan. Once done add the cooked rice.
