Moong Dal with Green Pea is a quick and hassle free recipe and can be made in less than 15 minutes. Its tasty and goes good with both rice and roti.

Saute the moong dal in a pan without any kind of oil or liquid. This enhances the flavor the Moong Dal with Green Pea. Keep the flame low and turn it off the moment is moong dal feels hot. Overcooking can burn the moong dal.

Once the sauting of moong dal is complete, let it cool. Once cool, wash the moong dal thoroughly and pressure cook it with water for up to 3-4 whistles.

Boil the green peas in hot water for 5 minutes. If you are using a cup of moong dal, 8-10 green peas make a good portion.

Once the moong dal is boiled, mash it using a fork. This softens the dal. Do it when the boiled moong dal is hot.

Now, it’s time to add a simple ‘tadka’ to the moong dal and cook it with the green peas.
In a wok/pan, add a tablespoon full of ghee (for one cup moong dal). Once the ghee is hot, add cumin seeds (jeera) and ginger paste. Cook this for a minute and add 2 green chillies.

Once the dal ‘tadka’ looks cooked add the boiled moong dal. Mix well.

Now add salt (half teaspoon) and turmeric powder (half teaspoon) in the moong dal. Don’t forget to add the boiled green peas and give it a mix.
